GALENA, KANSAS: Lyle Birkinsha, 83, 905 Euclid, died at 4:00 pm, Friday, September 13, 2002 at his home following an illness.

Lyle was born June 11, 1919 at Pittsburg, KS. His parents were Charles and Daisy (Elliott) Birkinsha.

He had lived in Galena since 1957, moving from Long Beach, CA. where he lived for 10 years.

He retired May 18, 1984 from LaBarge Industries, Joplin, MO.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corp.

He was a member of Sixth Street Baptist Church, Galena, KS. His testimony was a person of good Christian character.

Lyle was married to Zola Hatfield on March 23, 1946 at Pittsburg, KS. She survives.

He was also a loving and caring father. His additional survivors include one son, Ray (wife Sherry) Birkinsha, Joplin, MO; one daughter, Sandra (husb., Dennis) Rosser, Tulsa, OK; 4 grandsons, Doug Kerley, Billy Andrews, Chad King, and Kyle Birkinsha; 3 great-grandchildren, Amanda Kerley, Zakk Kerley, and Levi King; and a host of other relatives and friends, including a special friend, Sue Simpson.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Birkinsha, Raymond Birkinsha, and Merle Birkinsha.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm Monday, Sept 16 at Hill Crest Cemetery, Galena, KS.

Rev. Jim McMechan will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 pm, Sunday at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
