Raynolds Barnum, 74 years old, 6025 Kenwood avenue, a retired insurance executive, died today at the St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids, Minn., where he had been a patient since September 9. Mr. Barnum was taken to the hospital after suffering a stroke at the summer home in Dorset, Minn. His condition had shown improvement since September 26 until a relapse occurred Tuesday. He suffered two light strokes in March here, but recovered after two months of treatment in the St. Joseph hospital here. Barnum and his wife, Mrs. Juanita Barnum of the home, left here in June to go to the summer residence. A native of New York City, Mr. Barnum came to Kansas City in the early 1900s. He was the son of Brig. Gen. Henry A. Barnum, a Union army Civil war veteran.
Raynolds Barnum entered the insurance business here as a special agent for the Agriculture Fire Insurance company. His first wife, Mrs. Olivia Barnum, an active worker and performer in music circles here, died eight years ago. Mr. Barnum married his present wife, the former Miss Juanita Kissell five years ago. His wife is the only immediate survivor. The body will be returned here for funeral services and burial. (Kansas City Star, Kansas City, Missouri, Oct 15, 1949, Saturday)
