BIRTH RECORDS: Iroquois County Birth Records; to 1916; T-Z, page 1. (Published by Iroquois Genealogical Society, Cherry Street, Watseka, Illinois; 1999.)

OBITUARY NOTICE: Iroquois Times; Watseka, Illinois. Dated November 24, 1888. Excerpt, "... 'Of Such is the Kingdom of Heaven ' ... With what anguish and anxiety papa and momma watched over their darling through gloomy days and weary nights of its long suffering, their heartthrobs alternating between hopes and fears as they bended over the wasting form of their little loved one. What was all the beauty, wealth and vanity of this world compared to the life of this tender bud of theirs in whom was centered all that was sublimest in earth - a mother's love and a father's devotion. None but those whose hearts have been wrung in the poignant grief of such a bereavement can ever know or feel the depth of anguish endured by the parents bereft of such a sunbeam as Gardie. So crushing is the loss of such a little life that even the hope engendered by enlightened sentiment and the glorious promise of Christian Faith can scarce reconcile the human heart to such a fate. ..."
