Micajah was a son of Richard Taliaferro and his wife, Jane S. Stanley. Micajah was married twice. He first wed Emma l. Riggle; a daughter of William F. Riggle and his wife, Elizabeth Bowers. Micajah and Emma celebrated their nuptials on February 8, 1883 in Iroquois County, Illinois. They were married at 7:45 pm at home of Mr. & Mrs. John Sandercock; Emma's mother and stepfather. Micajah and Emma were blessed with a son, who died in infancy and a daughter. After Emma's untimely death in 1889, Micajah married a second time. He married Marguerite Davidson; a daughter of Richard R. Davidson and his wife, Isbelle Dempster. Micajah and Marguerite were wed on May 3, 1941 in Chicago (Cook County), Illinois. They had three known children; all born in Lincoln County, New Mexico. Micajah was in charge of White Oaks newspaper, 'Golden Era'. he later became part owner. He was also the editor and publisher of the "Watseka Republican" newspaper.
