June 13, 1936 - December 19, 2020
Vernon F. Vogel, 84, of Kiel passed away Saturday evening December 19, 2020 at his home after a prolonged illness. He was born on June 13, 1936 in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late Arno and Hertha “Hattie” (Schmitt) Vogel. Vern attended Rockville grade school and Kiel High School.
On October 26, 1957 he was united in marriage to Janice M. Seichter at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein. She preceded him in death on November 10, 1996. Vern married the former Agnes Karstaedt on May 4, 1998 and they have enjoyed the past 22 years together.
Vern was a dedicated employee of the Kohler Co. for 42 years until his retirement and a member of Kohler’s Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of the United Church of Christ in Kiel and will be remembered as a man of honor and integrity, one with a strong work ethic and great sense of humor. Vern was an outdoorsman by nature, an avid hunter and fisherman generously sharing his knowledge and skill with family and friends. As a longtime member of the Kiel Fish and Game, he also raised pheasants and shot trap. He loved to camp. But above all, Vern had a deep love of family. As a devoted father of six, he shared his legacy of simple honest living which lives on in each of them and will continue to live on for generations to come.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes; children, Diane (Tim) Reil, Plymouth, Debra (Jack) Jaakkola, Highlands Ranch, CO, Steve (Kathy) Vogel, New Holstein, Brenda (Bob) Johnson, St. Cloud, Julie (James) Norton, Carlisle, OH, Lisa Lefeber, Chilton; grandchildren, Carley Marie Reil, Justin Vogel (Hallie), Brent Vogel (Abby), Stacey (Kevin) Sesing, Kelly Krebsbach (Chris), Jessica (Eric) Schwartzmiller, Tarah Bauman and Taylor Bauman.
