Vernon married Frances Marshall on July 1, 1989 in Delta, Colorado. She preceded him in death.
He married Margie Farris on August 29, 2009 in Moberly and she survives of the home. Also surviving are mother in law Marie Farris of Moberly, stepdaughter, Terra Skinner and her husband William of Huntsville, stepson, Jason Harrison and his wife Laura of Monroe City, stepdaughter, Kathy Jordan and her husband Elliot of Berkley, CA, four siblings; Bill Shannon, Tony Shannon, Audria Arnett, and Ella Mae Shannon, Grandchildren; James, Timothy, and Tiffany Shannon, step grandchildren; Justin Skinner and his wife Savanah of Huntsville, Michael Skinner and his wife Amanda of Hannibal, James Jordan of Berkley, CA, and Aurelia Jordan, and two great grandsons, Lukas Skinner and David Skinner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Lonnie and Ed Shannon and a sister, Lorene Bolin.
Vernon was an over the road trucker. In his younger days Vernon loved to work in his garden and work on several different projects. Him and his wife Margie loved to travel. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family during the visitation Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 3:00 – 4:00 PM at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Services honoring Vernon’s life will begin at 4:00 PM. Committal prayer and burial to take place at a later date.
