Professional Football Player. For six seasons (1955 to 1960), he played at the offensive end position in the National Football League with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Born Jack Forsyth McClairen, he attended Rosenwald High School in Florida and later played collegiate football, basketball and track and field at Bethune-Cookman University. Selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 26th round of the 1953 NFL Draft, he served with the United States Army for two years prior to beginning his professional football career. He totaled 45 career regular season games and in 1957, he distinguished himself when he achieved Pro-Bowl honors. After retiring as a player, he returned to Bethune-Cookman University as head coach of the school's football and basketball programs, and served as Athletic Director from 1961 until 1972. He was inducted into the Florida State Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
