Carlson, Warren S. age 87, of Eden Prairie, died peacefully Sunday from lung cancer. Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jane; his parents, Charles and Leatha; siblings, Kenneth, Curtis, Aileen and Dean; his son, Paul and son in-law, Vincent. Warren was a proud Swede who reveled in his families love and laughter. He was born to Leatha and Charles Carlson in Morningside- Edina, where his parents ran a grocery & bakery store at 44th and France. He graduated from West High School in 1941 and from the University of Minnesota with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1948. Warren served in the Navy in the South Pacific as a skilled aviation radar technician during WWII. He married Jane Mary Madden in 1948 and they had 9 children. In 1955, Warren went to work for the Gold Bond Stamp Company, which later became part of the Carlson Companies. He started his own company, Cepco, Inc. in 1968. Cepco developed a number of entrepreneurial ventures including forestry, campground development and affordable housing in rural Minnesota. Cepco developed over 25 affordable housing communities throughout MN. The business is now carried on by his sons. His hobbies were family, business and politics, but mostly family. Warren is survived by his companion, Beverly Dolbec; children, Elena (Doug) Wilson, Catherine Carlson, Mark (Linda Chun) Carlson, Susan (Mark) Leyendecker, Janice (Vincent) Joshua, Curtis (Brenda) Carlson, Daniel (Babs Pilling) Carlson, Robert (Lisa) Carlson; grandchildren, Theodore, Kristin, Kellie, Laura, Spencer, Blake, Patrick, Katie, Calvin and great-grandchildren, Timothy and Michael. It was Warren's wish to thank the staff and residents of Summit Place for their kindness and care these past years. Visitation at Washburn-McReavy Hopkins Chapel, Wednesday, June 29th, 5:00-7:00 pm. There will be a celebration of life at The Church of St. Patrick, Valley View at Gleason Rd, Edina, Thursday, June 30th, 11:00 am preceded by a review at 10:00 am and followed by a luncheon.
