Albert John August Medack

February 21, 1918 - June 13, 2006

Funeral services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on June 15, 2006 for Albert Medack, 88, who died at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange on June 13. Rev. Robert Tiner conducted the service followed by burial in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Albert was born on February 21, 1918 in Lincoln to Ben and Lena Gruetzner Medack. He and Louise Namken were married on September 10, 1937 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. He was a lifetime Lee County farmer and rancher and a longtime elder at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He had been employed with the Giddings State School as a groundskeeper for 7 years and had been employed with Bluebonnet Electric as a groundskeeper for 10 years. His parents, a brother, Clarence and son-in-law Henry Umscheid preceded him in death. Two brothers-in-law also preceded him in death: John Eschberger and Ed Losure.

He is survived by his wife, Louise of Giddings, son, Roy and Ruth Medack also of Giddings, granddaughters, Krista Umscheid and Sheila and Bruce Fox of Austin, Susie and Pete Stewart of Midwest City, OK; step-granddaughters, Corrie Umscheid of Austin, Pam and Jeff Hobbs of Giddings; great-grandchildren, Shaunn Fox of Austin and Jack and Hannah Stewart of Midwest City; step-great-grandchildren, Matt Walsch of Midland, Whitney Walsch of Austin; 2 sisters, Clara Losure of South Carolina and Irene Larcher of Houston; and sister-in-law, Frances Medack of Giddings.
