George “Bully” Alameda, Jr., 85, of Hilo, died on Friday, December 25, 2020 at home. He was born & raised in Waiakea Town, Hilo.

He was a former employee for Alameda’s Plumbing & retired as a Plumber/Pipefitter for UA Local 675 with 50+ years of service. He attended Waiakea Kai & Intermediate School & graduated from Hilo High School in 1954. Member of the 1953 Hilo High School Territorial of Hawaii Basketball Championship team. He was also a member of HI Island Senior Basketball Circuit and played for Waiakea Pirates & Keaukaha teams, respectively. He was also a member of Keaukaha Community Association & Malia Puka O Kalani Church.

A drive-thru visitation only will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday (Jan. 15, 2021) at Dodo Mortuary Upper Carport, Hilo; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Section 7 at 1:15 p.m. Masks and social distancing required. Casual attire.

Survived by, children, Chad K. (Rosalyn) Alameda of Hilo, Lono (Moe) Nakashima of Hilo, Gary Alameda of Hilo, Janella (Keone) Alameda of Hilo, Avonelle Alameda of Hilo, Tina Marie Alameda of Hilo and Guy (Deanne) Alameda of Hilo; siblings, Edna (Lionel) Azevedo of Hilo, Alice (Billy) Harbottle of Hilo, Samuel (Diane) Alameda, Sr. of Hilo, Leonetta (Richard) Garcia of Seattle, Washington, Gordon Kanani Alameda of Waimanalo, Oahu and George DeMello of Hilo; sister-in-law, Lila (Mehau) Fernandez of Hilo; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
