John Abraham, notice of whose death appeared in last week's issue, was born in Beacon Camborne, Cornwall, England, Dec. 18th, 1833. He came to America in 1852, locating in this city, where he made his home until called to the Great Beyond. On Nov. 9th, 1854, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Dawson, and to this union thirteen children were born, seven of whom, with his bereaved wife, survive, and though the family is scattered throughout several different states, all were present at the funeral.
Deceased followed the occupation of miner in early days in this county, later engaging in the mercantile business on the present site of the First National Bank. After retiring from this business he followed the occupation of truck gardener, from which he derived on adequate income and enjoyed his home life. Another pioneer has gone.
