Faye Irene Goforth Powell, 86, of Warner Robins, GA, formally of Anderson, SC, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 in Atlanta, GA.
Born on March 19, 1934 in Anderson, SC, Faye was the daughter of the late Malcolm Culbreth Goforth and Nettie Sue Bass Goforth. She worked as a secretary in Anderson before marrying Richard C. Powell, Jr. and becoming a Military wife. They lived in Plattsburgh, NY, Honolulu, Hawaii, and settled in Warner Robins, GA.
Faye began her Civil Service career in New York continuing in Hawaii and then at Robins AFB, Warner Robins, GA. She retired after 34 ½ years of service as a Program Controller in 2003.
Faye was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Asbury Sunday School Class. She was very active in Ballroom, Square, and Round dancing groups in Macon and Warner Robins. She was also active with the 1800 Club of Macon.
Faye is survived by her two children: Betsy Sue Powell-Wood and Richard M. Powell; four wonderful grandchildren: Malcom Alexander Wood, Scarlett Elizabeth Wood, Heather Melissa Powell, and Allison Merissa Powell; and her brother, Kenneth M. Goforth and his family.
Funeral Services will be held at Clemson United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11am. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park alongside her parents.
