Killed in battle at Gettysburg, PA, July 4, 1863, Age 22 yrs., Son of Thomas and Lucy King.
Verse on headstone:
Sleep, noble warrior, sleep
The tomb is now they bed
Cold on its bosom, thou dost rest
In silence with the dead
He sleeps his last sleep,
He has fought his last battle-
No sound can wake him to duty again.

From information in Civil War records, I believe he actually died on July 2, not July 4.
