Lewie enlisted in 1919, after the beginning of World War I. He was sent to France, in the American Expeditionary Forces. He is listed in US Army Transport 'outgoing' passenger list as 'Bugler' Co M 331st INF. 83rd DIV. After he was released from service, he returned to America to work as a tailor.
Lewie married Mae Augusta Fassett around 1923 in Ohio. By 1930, the couple live in Florence, South Carolina. Mae's sister, Myrtle Fassett is living with them. In 1935, they are living in Pittsburg, Penn. The 1940 US Census records the couple in New Kingston, PA. Lewie is a tailor in a tailor shop. Mae is a seamstress in a department store. They raised two sons, Nick R. and Ralph Anthony Cervone.
The Cervone's settled in Napa, Calif in the 1950's. Lewie was a successful tailor; he worked with his son, Nick at "Cervone and Son" Tailor Shop in Napa, CA. Son Ralph was a veteran of the USAF.
Lewie was very active in various service and religious organizations in the towns and cities he lived in throughout his life.
He was survived by his wife, Mae and two sons, Nick and Ralph; also his brother, John of Napa and Corrado in Italy; five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
