Betty Jane Shaw, 86, of Flat Rock, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her residence. Born May 9, 1934 in Brown County Indiana, she was the daughter of Garland Ayers and Tressa Mae (Hamblen) Ayers. She married Warren K. Shaw in 1954 and he preceded her on August 27, 2001.
Survivors include 2 sons - Michael W. Shaw of Waldron, Tracey K. Shaw (wife Sandy) of Flat Rock, daughter Norman J. Lingenfelter of Waldron; 1 brother - Michael Ayers of Brown County; 5 sisters - Maxine Melton of Brown Co., Linda Purdy of Arizona, Edna Thomas of Greenfield, Janet Falte of Brown Co., Helen Gregg of Knott's Island, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mrs. Shaw had lived in this area for 70 years, after moving from Brown County. She had been a woodworker for 60 years with T.K. Shaw Custom Cabinets, retiring in 2002. She was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church for 60 years, and also a member of American Legion Auxiliary, and the Mystery-ettes Home Ec Club.
Betty was a lottery ticket player. In earlier years, she enjoyed horseback riding, was a former Girl Scout Leader, and loved working with wood.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Lewis Creek Baptist Church, 1400 E. 600 S. Waldron, with Pastor Harvey Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lewis Creek Baptist Church Building Fund.
