Funeral Services for Lillian Bolden will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, 11:00 AM, Macedonia Baptist Church, Ashton, LA. Rev. Ulysses Mitchell, Pastor, will officiate the service.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 9:00 AM until the commencement of the funeral service at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Ms. Bolden will be buried in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

On January 2, 2017 at 2:40 am, Lillian Bolden went home to be with the Lord. Lillian Bolden was one of twelve children. She was proceeded in death by her two sons, Clarence Otis II and Edward Louis Otis. Lillian Bolden was born to the late Rebecca and Elzy Bolden at their home on February 20, 1926 in Franklin, LA by a midwife name Ms. Panky. Lillian Bolden was also proceeded in death by five sisters Gloria George, Thelma Williams, Homernette McCoy, Celestine Wiggins, Ethel Walter and five brothers, Clarence Dixon, Joseph Bolden, Edward Bolden, James Bolden, and Nathaniel Bolden. Lillian Bolden has one surviving sister Jessie Bolden of Franklin, LA.

Lillian Bolden has been a native of Franklin, LA all her 90 years here on earth, but during her teenage years, she had the privilege and honor of traveling to Chicago, IL with her sister Ethel Walter to sing with and under the direction of the legendary Mahalia Jackson. Lillian enjoyed singing, and was never shy to give God praise. Her boast was always in the Lord. Her motto was, “The Lord takes care of Lillian Bolden.”

She sang at many churches with her sister Ethel, and her favorite hymn was “This Old Building,” She no longer has to worry about that old building leaning, because the Lord has prepared a better home that is not made by the hands of men.

From the seed of two boys, Lillian Bolden was blessed to have six grandchildren. Caroline (Brian) Druilhet of Sioux City, IA, Clarence (Angie) Williams of Sioux City, IA, Michael (Nitausha) Williams of Sioux City, IA, Demetra (Kevin) Richardson of Seattle Washington, Jessica Engleton of New Iberia, LA, Valinda Otis of Moses Lake Washington, Johnathon Robinson of Franklin LA. She had 20 great grandchildren Gabriel, Aerial, Brian, Quinn, Tavian, Shiese, LaKeya, Christian, Jamal, Tyriesha, Kevin Jr., Tre’von, Precious, Alizae, Malik, Zyier, Tyrus, Tarik, Angie and Amos. She also had four great great grandchildren Azariah, Aubrielle, Brilyn and Jasmine.

Lillian Bolden had three godchildren Lorita Webb of Houston TX, Joann McCoy of Franklin, LA and Anthony Walter of Lafayette, LA. She had a host of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. Lillian Bolden will be missed by all but her memories will forever live in the hearts of everyone she knew. She truly had the gift of GIVING never looking for anything in return. Again, her favorite words were “God takes care of Lillian Bolden.
