He was a member of Jefferson Academy Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as the youth director. He was the founder and director of the Jefferson Christian Academy Praise Team. He worked for the Jefferson Police Department in 2001, and he had been a deputy for the Marion County Sheriff's Department since 2002. His goal was to keep youth focused on God.
