Andrew was killed instantly on Thursday morning (Feb.17,1955) when he was crushed between two tanks while on training maneuvers at Fort Knox. He was the son of Henry and Fannie (Ward) Tackett of Paintsville, Kentucky. Prior to entering the service March 15, 1954, he had attended Paintsville City Schools and graduated from Richmondale High School, Ohio. He was married in June 1954, to Mable Hensley. Andrew has three brothers, William (Pee Wee), Thurman and Henry Eugene Tackett and one sister Nola Marie Tackett who died shortly after birth. Military services were conducted at the gravesite by 18 members of the Third Armored Division of Fort Knox.
