Charles A. Boatner, 66, of McAlester, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at his residence.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Service.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Jamie Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Indianola Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bonham, Matthew Bonham, Jimmy Boatner, Johnny Boatner, Ronnie Schultz, and Jerry Faith.

Charles was born on October 6, 1954 in Indianola to Leslie and Ruby Lee (Case) Boatner.

He married Debra A. Bonham on May 19, 1973 in Texas.

Charles worked for over 20 years as a supervisor at Atlantic Meeco. For a short time, he later worked as a carpenter/welder at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.

He enjoyed spending time in his wood shop where he and Jaden spend most of their time tinkering with various projects.

He was a very active member of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church where he served an usher.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; son: Charles “Charlie Brown” Boatner, Jr; grandson: Jacob Jennings Boatner; sisters: Linda Dunfee, Neda Pearson, Brenda Durham; and brothers: David Boatner, Chester Boatner, and Larry Boatner.

Charles is survived by his wife: Debra Boatner of the home; son: Chad Boatner and wife, Sherry of McAlester; daughter-in-law: Shannon Boatner of McAlester; son: Billy Jo Boatner of the home; daughters: Chasity Boatner of the home, Sarah Willson and husband, Dusty of Wilburton; grandchildren: Jaden Boatner, Krystian Jennings-Boatner, Logan Willson, Riley Willson; great-grandchildren: Rhettly Houston and Evvy Houston; brother and sisters: Dean Boatner and wife, Betty of McAlester, Syble Moss of McAlester, Eva Russell of Coalgate, and Mary Cole of Shawnee; sister-in-law: Marie Boatner of Jenks; and many nieces, nephews, and foster children.
