Franklin - Joseph Gunderman, Sr., age 80, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Franklin to the late Leonard and Minnie (Titus) Gunderman, Joe had lived in Franklin all of his life. He had served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and then he served during the Vietnam War, where he assisted in setting up APE Equipment. Joe had worked at the former Hardin Oil Company in Franklin, now know as Region Oil. Joe also had worked as a blaster at the Scrub Oaks Mine in Mine Hill and had retired from the Munitions Department at Picatinny Arsenal after working there for over 20 years. Joe was a former member and Master of the Samaritian Lodge No. 98 in Hardyston and was a current member of the Kittatinny Masonic Lodge No. 164 in Branchville. He was predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters and his son-in-law, Walter Dennis. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice (Talmadge); his son, Joseph Gunderman, Jr. and his wife Donna of Franklin; his three daughters, Jeanette Keiser and her companion Richard of Franklin, Karen Brunell and her companion John of Franklin, and Sharon Dennis of Hamburg; his brother-in-law, William Talmadge and his wife Linda of Franklin; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Interment will immediately follow at North Hardyston. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Monday two hours prior to the funeral from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home.
