Virgil Conner, 81, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Virgil was born on Thursday, April 27, 1939, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Ruben V. Conner and Carolyn (Yountz) Conner. He married Floy "Billie" Stephens and they shared sixty-four years together.
A lifelong resident of Muncie, Virgil graduated from Harrison Township High School. He was a mathematical genius and a Union Craftsman Carpenter. He worked for several companies, including Attlin Construction, and was a member of the Union Local #1060. Virgil was known for building custom homes, churches, warehouses, and factories. He enjoyed woodworking and construction. He was simple, honest and blunt, and always "told it like it was". Virgil was all about family, and was a mentor to his great-grandson, Cayden.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Billie; a son, Gary (Toni) Conner; grandchildren, Travis Conner, David Conner, Jennifer (Brad) Murray, and Chris Brown; great-grandchildren, Cayden Ice, Cache Murray, and Airyana Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Carolyn; a son, Larry Conner; brothers, Loyd Conner and Farrell Conner; sisters, Mary Jane Beal, Ruby Harland, Evelyn Hutchison, and a baby sister.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required as well as social distancing
Graveside services will be held for Virgil on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at 12:00 p.m., at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Mausoleum.
