Funeral services for Abraham Rusch, 75, of Homestead was held Tuesday, October 19, 1993, at 2p.m. n the Homestead Bible Church, with Pastor Bill Weibe officiating. Services were concluded at Homestead Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Mortuary, Okeene.
Abe was born March 6, 1918, in Southard, to John Frederick and Regina Mann Rusch. He passed away Sunday, October 17, 1993, at St. Mary's Hospital, Enid.
As a young child, he attended Con 6 School, west of Canton and Liberty School.
On May 11, 1938, Abe and Ora Louise Cramer were married in Taloga. To this union of 55 years, four children were born. In 1975, they made their home in Homestead after Abe retired from the trucking business. They had previously resided in Liberal, Ks, and Woodward.
Abe was preceded in death by his parents; two half-brothers, Henry Rusch and Ben Harbach; and three half-sisters, Eva Nusz, Katie Shaffer and Elvina Mier; one grandson, Mitchell Dee Howard; and one great-grandson,John Dee Shea.
Survivors include his wife, Ora, of the home; one daughter, Shirley Schaffer of Wichita, KS; two sons, Marvin "Bud" Rusch of Woodward, and Ronnie Rusch of Farmington, NM; three sisters, Mollie Bouse and Anna Thornton, both of Okeene, and Mary Ramey of Hennessey; two brothers, Adam Rusch of Okeene and Dave Schaffer of Fairview; a half-sister, Leah Herman of Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
