Jemima was the first wife of James Knaggs. They were married in 1805. Jemima was born in New York and died in Monroe Territory, Michigan. Her death came after giving birth to her son and only child George Knaggs. (Knaggs family history , pg 34) At that time frame she would have been buried on the Knaggs farm, as there were no established cemeteries except a small Catholic settlement cemetery. James was not of the Catholic faith. Jemima was the mother of George Knaggs #35297896, who was buried in Doty Cemetery, in Raisinville Township, Monroe County, Michigan. George was born November 6, 1806. This would give the time frame for her death as within two weeks after the birth of her son infant George. Doty Cemetery was not open at the time of Jemima's death.
Jemima's husband James, married soon after her death to Pelagia "Polly" Roberts and with her had 8 known children, James, Jemima, Eliza, Johnson, Rebecca, Caroline, Robert, and Whitmore. Whitmore died as an infant.
