LOGAN, Utah - Dr. Ernest I. Stewart, distinguished educator, administrator, and rancher of Phoenix, Arizona, died in Scottsdale, Arizona on May 28, 1997.
He was born in Logan, Utah on May 16, 1913. Dr. Stewart received his B.S. degree from Utah State University and was a proud member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He did graduate work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and received his Ph.D. from Columbia University. He was involved in teaching, research, and administration oat Columbia University and Arizona State University. He was the co-founder of the Phoenix DWI program which has been replicated nationally. He was the owner/operator of Juniper Ranch in Preston, Idaho.
Survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Afton (nee Bingham); children, Sally Ann (deceased) and Susan Kay; son-in-law, Kent Hansen, and grandchildren, Kristen Sue and Stewart Kent Hansen.
Private interment services will be held in Logan, Utah.
