Regina Maria Seifert (sometimes known as Regina Seifert, sometimes known as Maria Seifert) was born in Germany on June 8, 1836. She died on March 18, 1920, 8:15 p.m., at the home of her oldest daughter, Mariah Seifert Wilson, in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Cause of death was bronchial pneumonia due to influenza. She had been living with her other daughter, Dora Seifert Wilson and her spouse and children in Marshall County, Kansas, until Dora's death of influenza on February 15, 1920. Mariah took over the care of her mother and brought her to Saint Joseph to live with her on February 20, 1920, shortly after Dora's death. Maria Seifert was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Saint Joseph, Missouri, on March 20, 1920.

According to her death certificate, Regina Maria Seifert's parents were John Burger and Kate Homan, both born in Germany. Maria married George Seifert and they had three children: Mariah, Dora (aka Victoria in 1880 census), and George. All three children were born in Illinois. Before her husband's death in 1906, Maria and George had lived in Colorado. After her husband's death, she lived with Dora (Mrs. Sam) Wilson and her family in Marshall County, Kansas.

This is her obituary printed in the St. Joseph Gazette (St. Joseph, Missouri), Saturday, March 20, 1920, Page 6.
"Mrs. Mary Seifert, 84 years old, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maria [sic] Wilson, 5409 Swift avenue, yesterday morning. She is survived by her daughter and one son, George Seifert of Herkimer, Kas."

Gravesite Details

Marker is made of concrete with many small pebbles in it. Delicate and deteriorating. Located at the top of the hill in the St. Augustine section. Name is spelled incorrectly. Her daughter, Mariah, is buried halfway down the same hill.
