Elizabeth Stull was born about 1778 a daughter of Paul and Mary Stull of Fayette County Pennsylvania. About 1797 she married Peter Rush, they purchased land on Jonathon's Run, Wharton Township where all of their children with the exception of Ivy were born.

After her Father's death in 1816, the couple moved to Ohio and took up Government land in Section 35, Township 4 of Range 4, Sunsbury Township, Monroe County and Section 7 of Township 5 of Range 4, then York Township, Belmont County Ohio. Census and Tax records show that Peter and Elizabeth lived on their Monroe County land until 1823, then moving to York Township, Belmont County, near Pew Ridge.
