Husband of Guynell Holstein; son of Annie Belle (Quattlebaum) Holstein; brother of Virginia Evelyn (Holstein) Leopard, Annie Laurie (Holstein) Baird, Barbara Mae (Holstein) Firmani; stepbrother of Alfred "Fred" J. Holstein, Mary Addie (Holstein) Quattlebaum, Helen J. (Holstein) Hunter Giddings, Harold "Buddy" Edward Holstein.

Cpl. Holstein served in WW II; the 619th Air Material Squadron, 57th Air Service Group, and was Honorably Discharged at Fort George G. Meade Maryland on January 15, 1946. He served in the Western Pacific and received citations and medals: Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; W/2 Bronze Service Stars; Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Medal WW II.

He was inducted April 14, 1943 and was promoted to Corporal on October 29, 1945.
