He married Zelma Lee Sauer on 22 Dec 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife and his sons, Philip Tipton of Easley; Al Tipton of Ramona, Calif.; and Bruce Tipton of Marysville, Wash.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be at the home in Easley, at 3 p.m. today.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane, Wash.
