Talmadge K. McClung

Talmadge Kenneth (Mac) (T.K.) McClung, 79, of Parkersburg went home to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior after fighting a courageous battle with an extended illness from the Arbors of Marietta on Oct. 2, 2006.

He was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Raleigh County, a son of the late William L. and Mattie Deaver McClung. Mr. McClung attended the Parkersburg Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ. He was a bricklayer with West Virginia Local Union 6. He was a member of the Mountaineer Wood Turners Chapter of the American Association of Wood Turners, was a 60-year member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen, was an honorary member of the West Virginia Laborers Training Center and served the past 10 years as business agent for Local 6. He was well known as a master bricklayer, was well recognized for woodturning and scroll saw work and he was a combat veteran with the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

Surviving is his wife, Mary L. Clayton McClung; one stepson, Wayne Allen Lydick and wife, Chary, of Rota, Spain; a stepdaughter, Margaret E. Lydick Griffing and husband, Mike, of Williamstown; a brother, Landon Dair Halstead of Dover, Fla.; and several stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, W.L. McClung.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Parkersburg Restoration Branch of Jesus Christ at 801 Mission Drive (near the Willows Nursing Home). Elder Glenn Cottrill will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 15. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
