Carl Witt, 70, veteran Golden Gloves and Illinois athletic commission judge, yesterday morning was found dead in the washroom at Marigold Gardens by Scranton Marrissette, maintenance man at the north side boxing club.
Witt, who lived at 1347 Carmen av., had been assigned by the Illinois commission to officiate at a professional fight program sponsored by the 20th Ward club at Marigold on Wednesday night.
Wife Reports Him Missing
Altho his widow, Mary, said she drive her husband to the arena and remained to see the fights, Witt was not seen at the ringside, according to William O'Connell, with whom he was to judge the fights.
When Mrs. Witt returned home she reported him missing to Town Hall police.
After an examination of body at the chapel at 2701 N. Clark st., Dr. Harry Leon, coroner's physician, signed a report saying that he died of a heart attack.
Municipal Court Clerk
Services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the N. Clark st. chapel. Burial will be in Rosehill mausoleum.
