Musician, Manager. He was a member of the music ensemble "The Staple Singers." His father Roebuck 'Pops' Staples had already began his singing career prior to relocating his family to Chicago. The group performed in public at their local church and recorded numerous gospel albums during the 1950s. Pervis contributed to the album "Soul Folk in Action" (1968) with the Stax label and departed shortly after to become a music group manager. In 1999, Pervis Staples was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Staple Singers.
