Abraham Mincer, 67, of Ninth Street, SW, Hickory, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, unexpectedly at his residence. He was born Oct. 3, 1941, in Southern Pines to the late Charles and Geneva Faust Mincer. He was a retired employee of Hickory Scrap Iron Co. He leaves to cherish loving memories, his wife, Judy Johnson Mincer of Concord; one daughter, Phyllis (Cedric) Cooke of Concord; three sons, Abraham Mincer Jr. of Concord, Charles (Shannon) Mincer of Newton and Paul Mincer of Concord; three brothers, George (Recko) Mincer of Southern Pines, Isaac Mincer of Philadelphia, Pa., and Joseph (Mattie) Mincer of Willingboro, N.J.; a sister, Margaret (Elihu) Billard of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at 4 p.m. at the Southern Pines Primary School, conducted by Pastor Earl Jones. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Allen Mitchell Funeral Home in Hickory. Allen Mitchell Funeral Home of Hickory is serving the Abraham Mincer family.
