Services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 at Harmony community near Ethel for James Franklin, 31-year-old farmer of the Little Texas community 10 miles southeast of Tunica and native of McCool, who died Thursday of typhoid fever in the Baptist Hospital at Memphis. Officiating was Rev. Nicholson of Philadelphia.
Burial followed in the Harmony cemetery under direction of Woodall Funeral Home of Kosciusko.
Meanwhile, Tunica county health officials acted to halt a threatened outbreak of typhoid fever in the area. Dr. C. F. McCarty, county health officer, said between 400 and 500 persons had been innoculated since Thursday. The typhoid fever victim leaves a 14-year-old widow, Mrs. Lela Josephine Franklin; two sons by a former marriage, Wayne Franklin and Bobby Joe; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Franklin, McCool; a brother, Ernest Franklin, Ethel; and sister, Mrs. Walter Barnes, Shaw.
