W. S. Boyanton Buried at Shivers

Funeral services were held for W. S. (Bill) Boyanton of Shivers on Sunday, Sept. 14th, with the Rev. J. W. Gray and the Rev. C. W. Black, officiating.

Mr. Boyanton was a native of Jeff Davis county, having been born Jan. 16, 1867 in the Red House community where he lived until moving to Shivers about thirty years ago. He was a member of the Shivers Baptist Church and during his active life was the Sunday School Superintendent for a number of years. He also took an active interest in schools and other community interests. He was a Mason, having been a charter member of Old Mt. Carmel Lodge (Jeff Davis county). His wife was Nora Elizabeth Polk of Prentiss who died 14 years ago.

Mr. Boyanton was a Christian gentleman -- humble, fair-minded, given to hospitality. He loved people and was magnaminous in his thoughts toward others.

He is survived by five daughters and five sons: Mrs. N. J. Lee, Wiggins; Mrs. Love Berry and Mrs. R. E. Dansby, Shivers; Mrs. O. L. Breland, Texarkana, Texas; Mrs. Wilburn Buckley, New Hebron; W. J. and Leland Boyanton, Jackson; J. W. Boyanton, Newhebron; W. C. Boyanton, Shivers; Earl B. Boyanton, Port Arthur, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Coulter, Prentiss; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Active pall bearers were: V. P. and Pat Shivers, and four nephews, Shelby and Wiley Coulter, Ike Bass and Leslie Polk.
