Carol Clyde Salisbury Carol Clyde Salisbury passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2002, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness and complications following surgery. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grand-mother, and friend and inspired love and devotion in those who knew her well. She excelled in all of her endeavors as a student, wife, mother, homemaker, musician and as a church and community leader. She was genuine, forthright, decisive and was always there when needed. You were never in doubt as to her opinion or position and her counsel was sought after and valued. Carol was born on May 9, 1927 in Springville, Utah to Wilford and Jennie Clyde, the youngest of six children. From the time she was in high school she was taught to work by her father--on the family farm and in the businesses he created. She had a bright, intelligent mind; graduating from Springville High School and the University of Utah in economics. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma. She was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, David E. Salisbury, and while he attended law school she worked for Stanford Research Institute in Palo Alto, California. After returning to Salt Lake City her intelligence and energy were focused on creating a wonderful home and raising her four children to seek excellence in all their endeavors. She is survived by her husband and children, Dr. Susan Salisbury, San Francisco, CA; Carol Ann S. Larson (Dr. Thayne) of Scottsdale, AZ; Sally S. Anderson (Eric), Walnut Creek, CA and David C. Salisbury (Kathy), Redwood City, CA; and ten grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, William Clyde and two sisters, Ila C. Cook and Louise C. Gammell. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers Cornell Clyde and Blaine Clyde. Carol loved her Heavenly Father, to whom she has now returned. As a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served twice as Relief Society president and also in the Primary organization where her organizational skills were invaluable. Until the last few years of her illness she enjoyed classical music, good books, gardening and travel with her family and close friends. Her community service included the Pioneer Theater and Utah Symphony guilds, the University of Utah Emeritus Association, the Arthritis Foundation and The University of Utah College of Engineering Advisory Board. She has played an active part as a director and officer of Clyde Companies, Inc., and Beehive Insurance Agency. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 13, 2002 at noon, at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 South Wasatch Drive. Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs. and at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Friday. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the University of Utah College of Engineering, the Arthritis Foundation or the Utah Symphony & Opera.
