Iraqi official. Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party member. One of three half-brothers of Saddam Hussein (Barzan and Sabawi being the other two). Interior Minister of Iraq from 1991 to 1995. In 1995, he was shot 9 times in the leg by Saddam's oldest son, Uday, as a result of his growing popularity in Iraq. He was the five of spades in the U.S. Military's most-wanted Iraqi playing cards. He was captured on April 13, 2003, by coalition forces while attempting to flee into Syria. He was sentenced to death for his role in executions and manipulating food prices on March 11, 2009. He was handed over to Iraqi authorities by the U.S. on July 14, 2011. He died in prison awaiting execution of natural causes on August 13, 2015.
