Iraqi official. Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party member. One of three half-brothers of Saddam Hussein (Barzan and Watban being the other two). Head of the Iraqi secret service, the Mukhabarat, during the 1991 Gulf War. Head of the Iraqi Directorate of General Security from 1991 to 1996. Was a Presidential advisor to Saddam during the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq. He was the six of diamonds in the U.S. Military's most-wanted Iraqi playing cards. He was taken into custody in February 2005, by coalition forces after being handed over by Syria. He was sentenced to death for his role in executions in March 2009. He died in prison awaiting execution of cancer on July 8, 2013.
