Chester was born in Frankfort, and for the first 8 years of his life, lived with someone else, that could no longer keep him, they said. He came to us as a beautiful, mature, gray tabby, large and quiet, wanting no cuddling, always trying to hide.

As years passed, Chester found his home with us as a secure place to be, with many windows to watch the birds outside, and many grandchildren to hide from or sleep with.

In recent years, he made a new life in the master bedroom and bath, never to return to the rest of the house, and was happier there than he had ever been; lounging on the bed, surveying the world from different windows than before, and sleeping with his people every night, after the mandatory 15 minutes of petting and purring.

Chester's life with us went by quickly, but happily. His age was the only thing we could find hurting him, as we let him go.

Today was a sad day, losing such a gentle, soft soul. Goodbye to all of the cats you were to us: Chester, Chesterfield, Chester Copperpot, Chess.
