SCHUYLER FALLS - Ralph E. Bailey, 78, of Salmon River Road died on Monday, April 3, 1989, at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Au Sable Forks on Jan. 3, 1911, the son of Samuel and Nellie (Smith) Bailey.

He served with the U.S. Navy from 1939-1946. He had lived and worked as an automobile salesman in Buffalo many years ago, then with Jerry Taylor Chevrolet in Ellenburg Depot, Santa Chevrolet in Plattsburgh and later with McBride's Chevrolet before retiring. He was an active member of the VFW Post 309, Peru, and was a past house chairman of that post.

Survivors include his wife, the former Marion Hare; one son, Samuel E. Bailey of Peoria, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Mary Lou) Barber and Mrs. Ronald (Pat) Doty, both of Peru and Mrs. Shirley Blake of Schuyler Falls; one brother, Harold of Keeseville; and one sister, Mrs. Walter (Thelma) Sorrell of Au Sable Forks; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Schuyler Falls Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
