Rosemary Chappell, 82, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on June 20 of natural causes. Rosemary was predeceased by her husband Charles Chappell, Jr., and her brother Charles Moore. She is survived by her brother Philip Moore (Helen), sister Margaret Green (Charles), daughter Lara Chappell (Michael), stepsons John (Christine), Charles (Mary), and Thomas (Victoria), eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Rosemary was a lifelong resident of Syracuse. She was always very civic-minded and served her community for many years as a member of the DeWitt Zoning Board, and volunteer at Victim/Witness Services in the Syracuse DA office, Vera House, DeWitt Board of Elections, and many other organizations.

Rosemary loved her summers with her family at Ramona Beach on Lake Ontario. She will be missed deeply. Rosemary was a great lover of animals all her life. She grew up on a farm where she looked after barn kittens and sick chickens. She personally rescued many dogs and cats as well as lived a life that respected all wildlife and the natural world. This was an ethic that she imparted to all that loved her.
