Ann was born at Sandy, Bedfordshire, England. She is a daughter of Frances Fitzjohn Chapman and William Jeffries Barnes. She was the second child and oldest daughter in a family of 11 children.

Her family came over from England spending seven weeks on the ocean. They made the journey across the plains with the Appleton M. Harmon Wagon Company of 1853. She traveled with:

This company crossed the Missouri River on 14 July 1853. They had departed on 15 June and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley 16 October, led by Captain Appleton Milo Harmon.

Ann married on 11 April 1867 at Salt Lake City, SL, Utah to Isaac III Bloxham, last son of Dianah Harris and Thomas Sr. Bloxham.

She served as a midwife for many years. As did most pioneer women, she supplemented their income by taking in washing and picking cotton, which she corded and spun into wool cloth.She also made the suit Isaac wore when they were married on 11 Apr 1867 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was very religious, believing in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the LDS Church.

She was the mother of twelve children: William Isaac, Elizabeth Diannah, Martha Ann, Wilford Lorenzo, John Charles, Fredrick Fitzjohn, Erastus Zacheria, Frances Emma, Nellie Drucilla, Richard Thomas, Lucy Adelia, and Horace Robert.
