Walter Bishop, 75, New Middletown, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.

A native of New Rochelle, N.Y., he was a former linesman for Lilco in Long Island, N.Y., and a retired equipment operator for the town of Smithtown, N.Y. He was a member of the auxiliary police in Suffolk County, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille and Evelyn, and a brother, Bobby.

Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Abrams; two sons, Walter Louis Bishop of Deltona, Fla., and Steven Miller Bishop of Smithtown; a daughter, Susan Jean Lilly of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two step-daughters, Joyce Meredith and Roxane Sparrow, both of Jeffersonville; a stepson, Troy Marcum of Jeffersonville; a brother, Herman Bishop of Denver; five grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Scott Funeral Home's North Chapel in Jeffersonville.
The body will be cremated.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the Harrison County Humane Society.
