Some of the most popular actresses of his time paired with him on-screen including Vyjayanthimala, Madhubala, Nargis, Nimmi, Meena Kumari and Kamini Kaushal. Nine of his films in the 1950s were ranked in the Top 30 highest-grossing films of the decade.
