Mrs. Painter graduated from Goldsmith High School in 1945. She worked at American States Insurance in Indianapolis and was the proprietor of two businesses, The Rag Doll Fabric Store in Anderson and the Clothes Clinic in Carmel and Frankfort.
She was a member of Frankfort Christian Church and she was a volunteer at Home Hospital, St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital and the Apron Ladies at Historic Prophetstown. She was a member of the Anderson Altrusa Club and Tri Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, nature, painting, music and especially being with her family.
She was born March 11, 1927, in Hamilton County to the late Ralph and Vivian Bouse of Sheridan. She married Robert L. Painter on Sept. 16, 1951, in Sheridan, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1994.
Surviving are twin daughters, Carol (Don) Anderson of Frankfort and Cheryl (Kemal) Altinkemer of Lafayette; one son, Doug (Julie) of Indianapolis; one brother, Keith (Mary Helen) Bouse of Sheridan; and four grandchildren, Lyndsay and Ryan Anderson of Frankfort and Seth and Sarah Painter of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Mitchell of Tipton, and her brother, Don Bouse of Sheridan.
