James Jewer was the s. of William Jewer and Charlotte Roberts Jewer.
He wed Mary "Jane" Smith circa 1875. Jane, as she preferred to be called, was born at Bishop's Cove. The parish house there suffered a terrible fire which destroyed vital church records among them, the family assumes is Jane and James' marriage record.
The couple was blessed with the following children: Charlotte (b. 1876), Alice (b. 1879), Cyril (b. 1881), Amelia (b. 1883), William (b. 1886), Jacob (b. 1889), James II (b. 1892), Annie Jane (b. 1894) and Arthur Jewer (b. 1897).
