GLENWOOD-Alfred Ray Hill, 94, of GlenWood Park Retirement Village, formerly of Bramwell and Princeton Towers, died Thursday, August 17, 2000, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield.
Born January 18, 1906, in Bramwell, he was a son of the late Booker Jones Hill and Mary Wasco Hill. He had been a resident of Bramwell most of his life and was a retired coal miner. He was also owner of Ray's Produce Market in Bramwell, a member of the UMWA and he was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Clara Lois Byrd Hill; and a daughter, Ila Jean Hill Harman and sisters Vida Hill. Elizabeth Hill Tabor, and Myrtle Hill McFadden.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Faith Harman Hall, Kent and Brent Harman all of Princeton, and Kelly Harman of Charleston; great-granddaughters, Stephanie and Leslie Hall both of Princeton; sister Virginia Buckner and husband Earl of Bluewell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Betty Shields officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell.
Pallbearers will be friends and relatives of the famly.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.
