Jonas Motzer was married twice. He first married Christine Diana Beckman about 1865 in Madison County, Illinois. With her he had the following children: John Jonas Motzer, Katherine 'Kate' F. (Tourville) Motzer, Christina 'Dena' Elizabeth (Ray) Motzer, Carl Frederick Motzer, Louis Phillip Motzer and Adolph Herman Motzer.

After Christine died he married Marie 'Mary' Sophia (Staffen) Rachow the widow of Frederick Adolph Rachow, Sr. With her he had Hannah Motzer who died in infancy and Herman Adolph Christian Motzer.

Frederick Adolph Rachow, Sr. is buried next to Jonas and Marie Motzer at Robinson Cemetery.
