William Boon and Jane Chambers were among the first settlers of Cantley (Outaouais).

William was born in 1798 in Londonderry, Ireland.

Jane Chambers was born on April 19, 1800 in Derry (Cavan), Ireland.

They were married in 1827 in Londonberry (Ireland).


In 1827, William Boon arrived in Bytown (now Ottawa) with his wife.

He worked on the Rideau Canal as a whip sawyer.

In 1832, he decided to settle in Cantley and later in Wilson's Corner (Outaouais).


8 children: Joseph, Eliza, James, Mary, John, Rachael, Jennie, William Jr.


Jane died August 31, 1893 aged 93

Her husband William died on November 11, 1880 aged 81.
