Robert Lee Belden Dies — Lake Charles Attorney for 30 Years — Past 87 Years of Age — Robert Lee Belden, veteran member of the Calcasieu Parish bar, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. P. Lyons, 30* East Street, Friday morning at 1:10 o'clock. Interment was at the Bilbo Cemetery this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. W. W. Holmes, pastor of the Methodist church of which he was a member, officiating. Deceased, like his father before him, was born at Homer, La. He practiced law in Lake Charles during the past 30 years, coming her from New Orleans. Mr. Belden was a republican and during the reconstruction days served two terms as district attorney in New Orleans under appointment of then Governor Pinckney. During recent years he has been a — [illegible] —. During the past year he has gradually been declining due as much to old age as anything else, until the end came last night. Deceased is survived be a brother, Benjamin Walker Belden, of St. Louis and a sister, Mrs. Eugenia Allison of Brooklyn, N. Y. In addition to them he is survived by daughters, Mrs. J. P. Brooks of Proctor, Texas; Mrs. -. P. Lyons and Mrs. Charles F. Taylor of Lake Charles; Mrs. R. C. McDonald of La Rochelle, La.; Mrs. Eugenia Gramley of Springfield, Ohio. Two sons survive him, R. W. He was one of the pioneer citizens of Lake Charles. His son R. W. Belden died at Laredo, Texas in 1923. Other children include Tom Belden, of Los Angeles: Mrs. Pres Lyons and Mrs. J. A. Lyons of Lake Charles; Mrs. J. A. Gormley** of Mansfield; Mrs. R. E. McDonald of New Orleans and Mrs. J. T. Brooks of Gunter, Texas.

When JUDGE ROBERT LEE DeKEYSER BELDEN was born in August 1835 in Homer, Louisiana, his father, James Kibbee Belden, was 31 and his mother, Eliza W. Hughed, was 21. He married MARGARET ISABELLE RYAN in 1857 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. They had nine children in 18 years. He died on February 10, 1922, in Calcasieu, Louisiana, at the age of 86.
