ROBERT JOHN JUNG

Robert (Bob) John Jung, age 79, of Chandler, Ariz., passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007, with his wife by his side.
He was born March 12, 1928, in Manitowoc and attended schools there through high school. He worked as an apprentice machinist at the Manitowoc Ship Building Yards before moving to Casper, Wyo. in the late 1940's and began employment at the Standard Oil Company of Indiana Refinery. This employment was interrupted by a call to service in Korea serving as a sergeant in the army from 1951-1953. He met and married his wife: Wynoma Stewart, on Nov. 18, 1955. They moved to Chandler, Ariz. in 1960, where for the next 35 years he worked tirelessly in the tourism industry operating the Aloha Motel and promoting Chandler and the Valley of the Sun. Taking retirement in 1995, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking trips around Arizona, and especially vacationing in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, and watching his grandchildren's activities on the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years; daughter: Karen (James) Reade, of Chandler, Ariz.; Lisa (Lawrence) Ritter, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; grandchildren: Audrey, Austin and Dakota Evans; Lauren, Amanda and Kelsey Reade; and a brother: Elwood (Arlene ) Jung, of Manitowoc; a cousin: Carole Adler, of Manitowoc; and several nephews and a niece. He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Margaret Adler Jung; sisters: Mildred (Bernard) Lensmeyer; Elaine (Sam) Sornborger; and brother: Melvin (Dolores) Jung.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary Chapel. 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road. Chandler, Ariz., followed by a reception at the family residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund of the Chandler Historical Society, P.O. Box 926, Chandler, AZ, 85244.
